The Second International Conservatoire Week Festival

On the threshold of the city’s tercentenary and celebrating this year the 140th anniversary of the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire’s foundation, it is organising the Second International Conservatoire Week Festival. The festival, which is without precedent in the world, will bring together, for the second time now, the music schools of Russia, Europe, and America.

The idea behind the International Conservatoire Week Festival is not only to demonstrate the achievements of various performers, from the talented and young to the famous, but also to present the original outlooks of the music schools and their students.

The Festival organizers aim to:

  • Familiarise musicians, experts and music lovers with the fine traditions and contemporary achievements of various music schools;

  • Present the St. Petersburg audiences unheard music of different genres and epochs, Russian and world premieres of chamber compositions;

  • Provide the opportunity for the exchange of experience in various areas of music;

  • Strengthen international links and mutual understanding between different music cultures via informal co-creation and joint performance;

Each invited music school will make its mark on the Festival through appearances in the concert program and in the series of lectures and master-classes.

For the first time the Festival program will include an international educational seminar dedicated to the management of musical events and musical groups. The outcome of the seminar is planned to be practical guidelines for music managers and music events producers on the development and promotion of the projects in the music sphere.

The Festival concerts will take place in the Glazunov Hall, one of the best chamber music halls in Europe, reborn after a large-scale restoration to public concert activities.

The Northern capital of Russia and the oldest Russian Conservatoire await ambassadors of national music cultures – representatives of the highest schools of music in the world.

Viva, Conservatoire!
